Victron VE.Bus BMS V2

The VE.Bus BMS V2 is the new generation of the Battery Management System VE.Bus (BMS) for Victron Energy's intelligent lithium batteries. These batteries are lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) and are available with a voltage of 12.8 V or 25.6 V in various capacities. They can be connected in series, in parallel, or in series/parallel, allowing for the creation of a battery bank for system voltages of 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V. The maximum number of batteries in one system is 20, allowing for a maximum capacity of 84 kWh in a 12V system and up to 102 kWh in 24V and 48V systems.

Based on the battery or batteries' status, the BMS system:

  • Generates a preliminary warning signal that alerts of an impending cell undervoltage condition.
  • Shuts down inversion in VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers via the VE.Bus interface, and in the case of cell undervoltage conditions, disables other loads via the "Load Disconnect" terminal.
  • Disables charging in VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers via the VE.Bus interface, and in the case of cell overvoltage, insufficient temperature, or excessive temperature, disables other chargers via the "Charge Disconnect" terminal.

The "New Generation" VE.Bus BMS V2 has additional features, such as:

  • Remote-controlled on/off terminals.
  • The ability to disable VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers through GX devices.
  • The ability to control the VE.Bus inverter/charger from multiple devices, such as the Digital Multi Control, VE.Bus Smart hardware key, and/or GX devices.
  • Terminals for input and output of auxiliary power, allowing the GX device to remain powered even if the system is turned off.

The VE.Bus BMS V2 has the following LED indications:

  • Status (blue): Briefly illuminates once every 10 seconds and signals normal operation.
  • Temperature or cell > 4 V (red): Illuminates when the charge disconnect output is low due to cell overvoltage or overheating.
  • Cell > 2.8 V (blue): Illuminates when the charge disconnect output is high and the battery cell voltage is higher than 2.8 V.
